Dr. Gerecht is the co-founder of TeraBAT, Inc. (2010) a biomedical startup that is pioneering advanced detection methods and technologies associated with volatile organic compounds. Dr. Gerecht has extensive experience leading R&D projects in numerous scientific fields. He received his undergraduate degree in 1990 from the University of Houston in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Solid State Physics.  Dr. Gerecht earned his M.S.E.C.E. and Ph.d in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1994 and 1998, respectively. In 1998, he joined the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst as a Senior Postdoctoral Research Associate. From 2000 to 2011, he served as a Principal Investigator at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) developing a number of terahertz technologies for imaging and spectroscopy for astrophysical and biomedical applications. Dr. Gerecht has served as technical PI and Co-PI on a number of NASA, NSF, and DARPA projects. Dr. Gerecht is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
